Yesterday afternoon deputies arrested Charles R. Griffin in connection with a 2007 cold case. The initial incident occurred on December 12, 2007 at 205 Averill St. Investigators with the Homicide Unit worked the case until all leads were exhausted and then the case was turned over to the Cold Case Unit. Through the Cold Case Unit’s hard work they were able to locate and interview witnesses in this case and in 2011 arrest the first suspect, Kipplin Dominick Franklin. As the investigation continued and more witnesses were interviewed, investigators were able to identify Mr. Griffin as a second suspect. Warrants were signed and then served yesterday afternoon. This is another example of the dedication and hard work of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. The investigators’ diligence and persistence has aided in making Greenville County safer for its citizens.
Mr. Griffin has been charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, and Possession of a Weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Mr. Griffin’s bond was set at No Bond.
