Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis will be holding a press conference on March 30, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. in front of the Law Enforcement Center. Sheriff Loftis will be unveiling the new Mobile Command Center. Tours and interviews will be available at the conclusion of the press conference.

Juvenile charged with weapon violation
Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have charged a 14 year old, male juvenile with possession of a firearm on school property and disturbing school.
At approximately 11:30 this morning Lakeview Middle School authorities were advised that a male juvenile was in possession of a handgun on the campus located at 3801 Old Buncombe Rd. The School Resource Officer initiated a preliminary investigation and located a loaded handgun in one of the classrooms. The juvenile was detained and subsequently charged with the aforementioned violations.
Due to the arrestee’s age his charges will be handled through the family court system.
SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO HOST FREE WORKSHOP
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting a free Neighborhood Watch / Community Watch Workshop this Saturday, March 24, 2012. The event, sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office Community Services Division, will be held at the Greenville Memorial Hospital Medical Staff Auditorium with registration beginning at 8:30 am.
Coordinators, Block Captains, Home Owners Association Board Members and Neighborhood Watch volunteers are encouraged to attend this educational event featuring guest speaker Sheriff Steve Loftis. The workshop will also include presentations on the following topics:

PEEPING TOM
Deputies received a call from a male victim who lives at 300 Sulphur Springs Road. He reported seeing a white male looking into his apartment windows. When Deputies arrived on scene we were advised that the suspect, Anthony Helton, had run into his apartment. Deputies located Helton at his apartment and he was arrested and taken to the Greenville County Detention Center. Anthony Helton has been charged with Peeping Tom and is currently in detention on $3,000 bond. Peeping Tom is a misdemeanor that carries up to 3 years in jail.
FINANCIAL IDENTITY FRAUD
Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division have arrested and charged 32 year old Danell Marie Adams in connection with two identity theft cases spanning from April 2011 through March 2012. Adams, while employed by the Greenville Hospital System, had access to patient and employee records. Personal information obtained from those records was used by Adams for financial gain. The case is still under investigation and it is unknown if additional victims will be identified.
The two victims that have been identified, however, share the suspect’s last name of Adams. Investigators believe Adams was specifically targeting individuals bearing her last name. Those individuals who have been employed by or obtained services from the Greenville Hospital System with the last name of Adams are encouraged to review their credit report.
The general public who may not have been affected by this particular case are still encouraged to review their credit report on an annual basis, shred papers and mailings containing personal information, and avoid providing his or her social security number to businesses over the telephone.
Adams has been charged with two counts of Financial Identity Fraud and faces up to ten years imprisonment for each charge. Adams was arrested on March 8, 2012 and has since posted bond and been released.
